What is a zombie pet video?

The zombie couple video trend tells a love story in a few seconds: a survivor with a gun, someone they love who has turned, and a moment where they can't shoot. The zombie pet version puts your dog or cat in that second role. The survivor recognises the grey-furred, white-eyed animal, lowers the gun, and the clip cuts to a sunny memory of the two of you together.

It works for the same reason the couple version works: it is not a horror clip. It is a short film about loving someone too much to let go, and with a pet in it, it is easy to share.

How to make a zombie pet video

  • Photo 1: you, the survivor holding the gun. One person, face clearly visible.
  • Photo 2: your dog or cat. Pick a photo where the animal fills most of the frame and its face is easy to see.
  • Pick a setting or choose Surprise me, pay once, and wait about five minutes.
  • Download the MP4. The video stays on the page in this browser even if you refresh, but the download link expires, so save it soon.

Photo tips for pets

The AI keeps your pet's look from the photo, so the photo matters more than anything else:

  • Use a photo of one animal. Two dogs on a sofa leave the AI guessing which one to keep.
  • Choose a clear, sharp shot in daylight. Pets move, so skip blurry action photos.
  • A face toward the camera keeps markings and ear shape more recognisable.
  • Avoid costumes, hats and sunglasses on your pet; they can end up as part of the zombie look.

Four settings for your zombie pet

The story is the same five shots in each setting. The sample above was made in the snowed-in cabin.

  • Halloween night: an empty suburban street with jack-o'-lanterns still glowing on the porches, fog and a full moon. The memory after the cut is the two of you on the same street on an earlier Halloween, in matching costumes.
  • Ruined city: an empty, dusty street in cold blue-grey light. The memory after the cut is a golden wheat field at sunset.
  • Snowed-in cabin: a mountain cabin lit by a dying fire, snow blowing through the broken door, an old hunting rifle instead of a handgun. The memory is a wooden dock over a sunny lake in summer.
  • Abandoned supermarket: empty shelves, vines and pale light through a broken skylight. The memory is the same supermarket, bright and fully stocked, back before it all ended.
  • Surprise me: leave the choice to us and one of the four is picked when you start.

The ending

After the gun drops, your pet, still a zombie, runs and leaps into your arms. Mid-leap the video cuts to a memory of the two of you, healthy and happy, the leap turning into a catch and a spin. The memory fills about the last 40% of the clip. The score is piano and strings with no dialogue and no text on screen.
